Good Hiking Shoes?.

There is no real good hiking shoes!. Do you know why?. Because hiking doesn't mean the same distance or the same terrain all the time. Let's start with

1.Light hiking : You will be happy with shoes called "Day Hikers" a slightly more rugged version of the sneakers you wear for running or walking
2.Long hiking : Or hiking that require you to carry weight on back. You will be fine with higher, stiffer boots plus hard plastic or steel shank. It won't let your boots twisting and give you feet and ankles more stability.

And be sure to look for a boot that keeps water out and dries quickly because you don't want your feet to stink too muck right?. And for me I would love to advice you Merrell Shoes.

The good things about merrell shoes is "comfortable fit" and technologies like Gore-Tex, Vibram, Polartec, Thinsulate and waterproof make them usable at any climatic conditions. Also it's doesn't cost too much for you pocket. But like I said before there is no good hiking shoes, So think about your trip carefully and consider what shoes you should have.

Customer Review: Merrell Spire Stretch
These shoes are nice, however, the fit is way too small! I got a half size larger than what I need and it is still too small. I recommend getting a full size larger than needed and wearing thin socks. Also, it was said in another post that I read that the arch support is great. I honestly do not agree. I felt the arch, but it was not that supportive. I am returning my pair.
Customer Review: Merrill is not what it used to be
Once upon a time, I loved Merrill footwear. It was sturdy, comfortable and looked good. When I saw they were producing more fashionable footwear, I got excited. However, this is the second pair I've returned from their newer lines. They don't fit as well as they used to (my feet haven't changed) and the structure of the shoe feels strange. It's not something I want to get used to.

Customer Review: Tight
I had several pairs of Merrells that I wore till they fell apart. But the last 2 pairs have all been tight, one was so tight I couldn't even get my foot in em, they were 9.5 M also (sent back). This pair was a smig tight so I figuired they were just stiff bein new and all. After wearing em for several days they aren't gettin any better. Either my feet are gettin bigger or Merrell is makin shoes smaller.
Customer Review: Best Hikers for the Price
I've done a lot of hiking and backpacking, but I've never made an investment in really "good" hiking boots. Finally I decided it was time when I decided to go on a four day backpacking trip on the Appalachian trail last October. I couldn't afford the higher end boots ($160-250), so I settled on these as it was a brand I knew and they were the cheapest I could find with GORE-TEX and Vibram. Now, EVERYONE, knows that you never, ever, ever go on a backpacking trip with new boots. Ever. I knew this, so I ordered these well in advance. Unfortunately ShoeMall (whom I ordered from) took a really long time to ship them, and they came less than a day before I had to leave. I didn't really have any choice but to wear them, so I splurged on some Smartwool socks (HIGHLY recommended--backpacking with them is a totally new experience) to try to alleviate the blisters. Well, I never expected what I got. These boots were very, very comfortable. I have high arches and under-pronate--how they would work for people with other types of feet I can't say, but I suspect it wouldn't much matter. The boots have good ankle support--not super, but good--and that was all I needed. I'm young and have strong ankles, and I'd rather have less weight than more support. I did sort of twist my foot once on the trip, but I was fine. People who need a lot of support might look elsewhere. This isn't a shortcoming of the product--it's just a characteristic. The grip is excellent. That's to be expected, they have Vibram. I did slip a few times, but it was on really wet rocks, and it may have been, as my friend put it, a user issue. As for the waterproofing, well, you could spend $300 and you wouldn't find a more waterproof boot. It rained the first and second days, and I never felt the tiniest drop of dampness. At one point I literally submerged my foot in a river to see if any water would get in. Nada. Overall these boots have everything I want. They may not be perfect for everyone, but if you don't have special needs (like extra support), this is the best bang you'll ever get for your buck. As I said, I took these on a four day backpacking trip on the Appalachian trail without ever wearing them before. I had a 30 pound pack. On the last day I hiked 17 miles--lots of up and down. I didn't get any blisters. None. At the end of the last day I was starting to get a small hotspot on one foot, but that was all. I'm not suggesting you take these backpacking without breaking them in, but these are as comfortable as you'll get. Just make sure you invest in some good wool hiking socks as well.

Customer Review: Great Shoes but...
Another excellent Merrell shoe and it does run small so order a size larger and more important do not purchase from Shoebuy.com they will not accept a return for larger size if you 'wear' them, i.e. put them on to see if they fit..they returned my shoes and refused a refund etc. Buyer beware of this cheesy supplier
Customer Review: Great Shoe
Exceeded my expectations. Fantastic in every way except the sole. Only downside is the sole which is too fine collects a lot of debris and rocks that can be tracked indoors.

Customer Review: Not like the previous Merrells.
I owned a pair of the original Chameleon Stretchs a few years ago. They fit perfectly with a thickly padded lining. Like walking on a cloud, I loved them.I think this is what most people remember about Merrells...the comfort. The replacement Chameleon Hex is a different shoe however. Merrell has redesigned them as the heel area is now a rigid shell with no padding. I assume this was to add durability, but it lets the hard edge rub directly against your ankle and I found it very uncomfortable, even with thick socks. My old ones I wore for days on end, the new ones I can't imagine doing the same. Merrell has a great reputation, but they need to add the "ankle padding" back to these models.
Customer Review: Very Comfortable
Comfortable and soft, but they kind of look like something Spiderman would wear, with all the webbing all over it.

Customer Review: Merrell will Discontinue these in Spring 2009.
Those familiar with the Merrell name for quality and dependability should not hesitate to give these a try. They are among the most comfortable shoes that you will ever own. Sadly, Merrell has decided to discontinue these sometime in the summer of 2009 according to many shoe stores and insiders. I bought my first pair in 2002 and they lasted over 2 and half years before I donated them due to the "looks." Amazing, They were still functionable, water resistant, and holding out. I have so impressed in the last 7 years with my previous two pairs that I am trying to "stockpile" a few more of these before they get discontinued. Do you need a boot instead? Another great hiking or all-around shoe I like from Merrell is the Perimeter Hiking Boot if you are looking for more ankle support. For those who like Columbia or Timberland hikers, believe me that the Merrell brand is more comfortable, durable, and easily worth the extra price you pay.
Customer Review: best shoes ever
It is a shame that these shoes are retired they were the most comfortable shoes I ever owened. This shoe is also the most durable longest lasting shoe that I am aware of. Merrell please bring it back.
